Kitty Hillier
Kitty Hillier is developing courses for Grays Wharf that encourage a personal engagement with nature and an exploration of abstracting techniques and mixed media approaches, including an exciting collaboration with John Howard Print Studios. Kitty is based at Islington Wharf in Penryn. Seemingly tranquil, Kitty’s paintings are created with layers of shapes derived from close observation of everyday details. They often conjure thoughts of huge sea creatures deep underwater, planetary systems, or the microscopic atoms of energy that connect all things.
Kitty was born in London and grew up in rural Dorset and Somerset. Kitty studied Foundation at Falmouth before gaining a First-Class Honours Degree in Fine Art Painting at Bath School of Art in 2007. Kitty returned to Cornwall in 2015 where she now lives and works from a studio at Islington Wharf. Her work is held in private and corporate collections internationally.
Oliver Raymond Barker

Oliver Raymond Barker works with the mechanics and alchemy of photography to make images, objects and structures that expand upon what photography is and can be. Working predominantly with alternative analogue techniques he uses photography as a tool to uncover imagined narratives, unseen processes and underlying systems.
Oliver has run a number of workshops in a range of photographic processes including chemigrams, cyanotype and pinhole camera making. He is currently Associate Lecturer at Falmouth University on the BA Photography course.
John Howard

We’re delighted to be collaborating with our fantastic neighbour John Howard Print Studios. John’s early work drew heavily on his experiences in industry, with a series of prints and drawings based on his work in Birmingham and Black Country foundries, evoking the dramatic lighting effects created by blast furnaces in the dark and sombre interiors. Since moving to Cornwall John has developed his interest in discovering unusual and different perspectives on the natural environment. His particular expertise is in exploiting the qualities of light and experimenting with form and structure, both natural and man-made.
John is an experienced tutor, having been Visiting Lecturer at University of Central England, University of Warwick, University of Coventry and currently teaching across a range of courses at Falmouth University.
