Mark says, “Louise Beard is deputy CEO of Coastline Housing, a charitable social landlord providing housing and support in Cornwall, including social housing for thousands of people across Cornwall, plus shared ownership and rent to buy homes to help people get a home of their own.
Since joining Coastline in 2007, Louise has been committed to improving services. With over 30 years of experience in social housing, she has demonstrated exceptional strategic leadership and a deep commitment to improving the quality of life for vulnerable individuals through affordable housing, homelessness support, and extra care facilities. Louise’s work has undoubtedly changed many vulnerable residents lives in Cornwall and she continues to strengthen the county’s professional network by rising to the challenge of the housing crisis in Cornwall.
Since 2023, Louise has been part of the National Housing Federation’s Homelessness National Group, contributing to national homelessness strategies. She has built new homeless accommodation in Cornwall and maintained existing facilities. As the housing team lead on the ‘Turning The Tide’ Strategic Cost of Living Group, she addresses housing impacts from the cost-of-living crisis.
From 2014 to 2022, she was a voluntary member of Cornwall Trustees for Shared Lives South West. In 2018, she became Chair of Community Led Local Development for Coast to Coast, focusing on local development and securing funding for quality homes and services.
Louise’s leadership has improved the organisation’s environmental impact, securing funding for energy efficiency projects. Her achievements and compassion make her a notable figure in housing in Cornwall and nationally, inspiring positive change, ensuring housing services are empathetic and responsive to community needs.”
