THE SCHOOL ROOM archive

In 2024, we were awarded funding by The National Lottery Heritage Fund towards the repairs and refurbishment of the School Room building. This funding also allowed us to create an archive of the building and its history. In creating the archive, we wanted to gain an appreciation of the building’s local importance, find out about what happened here over the years, make a record of the building’s physical interior and honour people’s memories and personal connection to the building going back decades.

This work provides us with a strong foundation for our re-purposing and re-use of the School Room, ensuring that our work is informed by its past, responsive to the present and ambitious for the future.
