ABOUT THIS COURSE

Expanding Your Practice is for artists working in any medium who wish to transform aspects of their creative practice. Creative practice can refer to the habits of making, sharing and disseminating work: to the ongoing engagement with subject matter, processes, influences, ideas, contexts, materials, tools, skills, research and networks.

COURSE CONTENT

Each week we will work with an aspect of the creative process though practical exercises, group discussion and presentations. By the end of the course you will have had the opportunity to:

  • Recognise what motivates your work

  • Revisit, question and challenge your ways of working

  • Deepen the connection with your subject matter

  • Consider the ways in which your values and ethics relate to your practice

  • Question your materials and sustainability

  • Challenge and expand what you consider to be the parameters of your practice

  • Discover and share how your expanded practice lives in the world

Participants on the course will each receive a sketchbook, and all materials will be provided for the practical exercises which explore the topics above.

Whether you are an emerging or seasoned artist wishing to establish or realign the foundations of your creative practice, this course offers the support and space for you to do so.
