‘Sankey Evenings’ in Cornwall were gatherings centred around the hymns and songs of Ira D. Sankey, a 19th-century American gospel singer and composer. This poster was rescued from a skip before the sale of the Penryn Methodist Church! It refers to an evening in West St Chapel, which closed in 1979. We think the type-face dates the poster to around the 1950s.
