“Carly is dedicated to marine conservation in Cornwall.  For 20 years since being awarded a PhD from Plymouth University, her research focused on conservation of the European lobster at The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow. She dissminated her ground-breaking research in the culture of lobsters around the world at many international conferences. Since leaving the National Lobster Hatchery she has taken on a role at the Cornwall Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority as a Scientific Officer.

I worked with Carly for many years at the National Lobster Hatchery and have never come across anyone with such a passion for the work they do. She has been a mentor to me for many years and without her the National Lobster Hatchery would not be the charity it is today. Not only has she progressed the conservation of Cornish lobster stocks incredibly, she has put the organisation on the map globally as a leader in lobster research.

Living in Padstow and then Penzance, Carly has always had a strong connection with the fishing communities in Cornwall. The roles at the NLH and Cornwall IFCA mean that she has always had strong links with the fishing industry and the many people who are involved in it.“
