Community & Voluntary Action

Suggested by Andy Brelsford

Andy writes,
“Having had a successful career in the public sector, overseeing Cornwall’s European funded programme to get people back to work, Carolyn moved into the voluntary sector as Chief Executive of CLEAR and has built up the charity with a focused vision for a community safe and free from abuse, with opportunity to flourish after trauma. She has provided leadership and inspiration to all those who have worked with or alongside her.

Carolyn is one of those people who sees opportunities where others see problems. She can use her extensive knowledge, experience and networks to pull together effective partnerships to tackle challenges and can inspire people to keep going and stay focused when the challenge seems daunting and unmanageable. On a 1-2-1 level, Carolyn always has time to listen and talk to individuals and make you feel like the most important person in her world at that moment.

Carolyn has lived and worked in Cornwall for most of her life with family connections to the St Ives area. Cornwall is very special to Carolyn and she has helped champion it on many occasions, visiting the national and European parliaments to make the case for Cornwall to receive structural and social funds.”
