Manice writes,
“Catherine Mead is the owner of Lynher Dairies in Ponsanooth, home of Cornish Yarg and other cheeses. She was awarded an OBE in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to cheese and the community.
Her voluntary duties include Chair of the Specialist Cheese Association, Chair of the Cornwall Food Foundation, Deputy Lieutenant of Cornwall and Trustee of the Duke of Cornwall Benevolent Fund. The cheese dairy started in the 1980s and has thrived and developed to this day, producing 4 unique cheese varieties using milk from a neighbouring farm.
Catherine has devoted her energy to making superb cheese for over 40 years developing and producing world renowned cheeses and providing satisfying work for many employees.
At the same time she has used her skills to guide many voluntary organisations championing Cornish enterprise and gaining recognition for it on the world stage.
I used to know Catherine personally when I worked as a vet and found her full of warmth and enthusiasm as well as being a remarkable business woman.”
