Tanya says, “Charlotte is a surfer with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism who was born and brought up in Falmouth, Cornwall. She learnt to surf through The Wave Project and has been addicted to the ocean since. Charlotte started competing in Para surfing in 2017, and has competed in 5 world championships. In November 2023 she won the International Surfing Association world para surfing championships in America and became world champion. Charlotte is determined and passionate, she will not let her disability hold her back from achieving in sport.

Charlotte is my daughter. We have been on a rocky journey together with many highs and many lows. I have learnt a lot from her, and she motivates me to keep my head held high when facing challenges. She would do anything for anyone, and is the kindest person I know.

Charlotte is training for her 6th world championships. She volunteers with The Wave Project and aims to inspire young people with disabilities to chase their dreams and become who they want to be with confidence.”
