Education & Social Care for a Royal Prince
1555 – 1640
Suggested by Marilla Walker
Marilla writes, “When Prince Charles, the future King Charles I came into Elizabeth Trevannion’s care at 4 years old, he was a sickly child and developmentally behind. Elizabeth was determined to raise him with kindness contrary to the aggressive and dangerous tactics suggested by the Royal Court. Elizabeth Trevannion-Carey was a daughter of Hugh Trevannion of Caerhays Castle on the Roseland.”
Elizabth’s story is very well told by local historian, Elizabeth Dale on her blog , The Cornish Bird.
