“Gillian Nevin has been a brilliant support for women all across Cornwall during pregnancy, labour and birth. Since moving to Cornwall in 2010 and starting her business, she has led Preparation for Labour and Birth classes, Birth Art classes, Pregnancy Yoga and Baby Massage classes from her family home in a mill house just outside of Truro.

As well as equipping mothers (and fathers!) with detailed knowledge about the birthing process, through her classes she also has created a brilliant, open and non-judgemental space for mothers to meet and share their experiences before and after birth.

I’m proud to say that Gilly is my mum! Not only is she an inspiration to the parents she teaches, she is also a brilliant mother to her four children (and one grandchild). Growing up, I remember frequently being stopped in the street by mothers she had helped before, during and after their births. In the past few years, as well as continuing to run her own business, she has undertaken a PhD at Falmouth in the philosophy and art surrounding birth and, specifically, the placenta blending her experience of birth with her academic and artistic aptitude.

Gilly lives and works just outside Truro, as well as being a part-time PhD student at Falmouth University.  “
