Tash writes, “Jane Darke creates artworks that explore the history and geography of Cornwall capturing the beauty of the place and connecting it to environment, science, changing weather and sea patterns. She has co founded a community space at Tregona Chapel near Bedruthan on the North coast, is currently working on the Gardener’s House Project in Penzance and has contributed to many valuable community arts projects. Her singular, clear voice creatively explores Cornwall’s roots with the sea and coast.”
From Jane’s website:
“Jane Darke has worked in Cornwall for over 30 years. She trained and works as a painter, has had three films broadcast on BBC Four and is a published writer. Since 2008 she has collaborated with sculptor, Andrew Tebbs producing films and community projects. They founded St Eval Archive at Tregona Chapel, near Bedruthan on the North coast. The chapel, built in the 1830s of mud, has now been renovated, established as a not for profit organisation and is used for exhibitions, events, community meetings and art workshops.
The Gardener House:
“The Gardener’s House is connecting people, planet and place to become a centre for the community that improves mental and physical wellbeing by encouraging people to build relationships with the natural environment.
Artists Jane Darke and Andrew Tebbs are producing a project that will inspire installations for the new sensory garden. Working together with Penzance community throughout 2024 on a series of workshops, they will help workshop participants to create designs for the new sensory garden inspired by the project’s rich archives.”
