Jayne Howard was Director of national award-winning Arts for Health Cornwall for 11 years before establishing Arts Well CIC in 2016.
She has worked for over twenty years from her base in Penryn championing arts for health in the region and developing partnership projects and programmes with organisations large and small that respond to identified needs.
In 2016, Arts Well won the Arts and Health South West Outstanding Individual Contribution award
Candy writes,
“Jayne’s belief in the power of creativity and the arts to transform wellbeing in communities and individuals is grounded in a career in education and the NHS, including as a Director of Public Health for Central Cornwall. She has over 15 years of initiating, advising, and collaborating on arts-based health projects in Cornwall and a passion for the arts and the power of partnerships.
Jayne works with inclusion, equality and diversity and has helped artists, community groups and individuals to use art for healing and as an essential part of living well. She has trained many artists, including me to develop knowledge and understanding of approaches to designing inclusive community workshops.
Jayne is resilient and determined, even throughout COVID she kept her CIC running. I admire her unwavering commitment and belief in arts for community. Jayne is Chair of Arts and Health South West, Volunteer Cornwall and Healthwatch Cornwall.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Artists and co-Chair of Lapidus Cornwall, a branch of the international writing for wellbeing organisation.”
Amanda says, “Jayne is so inspiring and has initiated so many award-winning projects across Cornwall that produce life changing results. I have been privileged to work with her on a range of projects over the last fifteen years.”
