Business and Enterprise

Suggested by Ellie Trebilcock

Ellie says, "Jenny Marquis is my mum. She learnt to face-paint through the Cornwall One Parent Support Group, went on to set up her own face painting and theatrical make-up business and ended up being one of the best in the industry.

Despite financial barriers and caring responsibilities for three daughters who lost their dad at a young age, she brought home an income. Jenny showed great determination, creating a business from nothing and growing an incredibly successful name which she has now retired from. In the last 25 years she prioritised working with charities across Cornwall, volunteering her time face painting on the children's ward at Treliske Hospital and with the National Trust, creating art work for True Butterflies Foundation, and raising money for the RNLI and the Air Ambulance amongst others.

"This woman is my mum, and she's never been truly recognised for the incredible work she's done in Cornwall whilst facing the challenges of being a single parent"

Jenny's dedication to her art, her journey to success and the importance of the third sector, Cornwall One Parent Support Group in particular, are an inspiration for all.

Jenny has lived in Cornwall for over 30 years.
