Matthew writes,
“Lally is the founder of the Folk Archive which celebrates Cornwall and folk culture from around the world. The archive seeks to preserve and promote all aspects of folk customs, cultures and costumes with the aim of facilitating artists, writers and creatives in researching folk related projects.
In 2025 Lally’s first book, The Lost Folk will be published by Faber and Faber. Lally also co-founded Stone Club and runs events around the UK including the Royal Cornwall Museum as well as community events and walks.
Lally is a total inspiration in the way she celebrates Cornwall’s lost and forgotten people from folklore and history. She is dedicated to Cornish creative communities, in the arts, film and music. With around 80 thousand followers that engage with her posts on Instagram, her social media activity reaches out to a community of interest all over the world.”
Lally grew up in Truro and Wadebridge and is now based in Penryn. She studied Fashion History & Theory at Central Saint Martins and then worked at Central Saint Martins Museum & Study Collection before returning to Cornwall where she runs the events programme at The Hypatia Trust, has worked freelance for a number of museum organisations and been involved in various artistic collaborations including Ancient Scent which explored the working methods of the artist Ithell Colquhoun.
