Betty writes, “Queen of Bude. A force for the youth and the whole community through her involvement with community action through sport (the CATS Youth Project), as president of the carnival, and through her main mission of running the Rustic Tea Gardens, looking after everyone and of course bringing the pasties and best cream teas. Margaret helped anyone in need and inspired everyone who knew her. An absolutely hilarious, kind, force to be reckoned with. A no nonsense woman, who was loved by all.
Margaret worked with my dad on various community initiatives, and I had the pleasure of working with her too after my dad passed. I met her on a stage, awarding young people for their contribution to the community and absolutely fell in love with her outrageous sense of humour. She was an absolute joy to be around.
A legend of Bude, full of stories, cut from the old cloth, a woman who lived in the moment, loved life and Bude and Cornwall.
Margaret is sorely missed. Bude was made more magic by people like Margaret, an incredible ambassador for North Cornwall. One helluva maid!
