“Naomi Frears is based in the Porthmeor Studios in St Ives, Cornwall. Her practice includes work with film and video, printmaking, painting, and collaborative curatorial projects. Naomi has been an artist working in Cornwall and exhibiting and selling her work for over a quarter of a century.  As well as being an artist in her own right she is a teacher, mentor, facilitator, connector and champion of art and artists, especially female artists.

Naomi has artistic and professional integrity as an artist and generosity of spirit, enthusiasm and joy in sharing her love of art with her students, mentees, and fellow artists.

I have known Naomi personally for 16 years through my own work as a creative coach and now as a friend. In her work she demonstrates a beautiful depth; noticing what is vital and important to us as human beings, through balancing a sparing and selective approach to her visual language she brings playful, perceptive curiosity and humour to her beautiful works. She brings humility, joy, and fun to the way she works with people and is an excellent teacher and mentor who has served the people of Cornwall for over 25 years.

Naomi is a huge supporter of emerging and early career artists and is generous and warm in her approach to coaching and helping others. In her work with all the graduates on the Cultivator Graduate Start Up programme I ran for 6 years she was always so encouraging and supportive of the artists - always encouraging and championing them as well as challenging and stretching them in a supportive way with humour, warmth, and integrity. She is open and inclusive in her approach to working with EVERYONE.”
