“Rebecca is an activist for social change surrounding inclusion at both a local and global level, supporting positive change for children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) in Cornwall and nationally. Through her own lived experience Rebecca instigated and drove the global award-winning campaign, Language Creates Reality - exploring the importance of language when talking about Down syndrome.
She is the artistic director and creator of Arthur’s Club, a theatre company producing compelling, high quality, imaginative content for children in new and exciting ways.
Inclusion is at the core of all the work, ensuring the creative offer is one for all children to enjoy together.
I have worked as a 1:1 keyworker for Rebecca’s son for 3 years and had the opportunity to get to know her and the amazing work she does for the SEND community.
Born in Cornwall, Rebecca left aged 21 to study Acting at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. After a decade of working in theatre, tv, radio, film and community arts, both nationally and internationally, she returned to her home town of Falmouth.
Language Creates Reality was awarded a Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister in 2020. The campaign became the second most watched news story online globally when featured on the BBC. It is now a part of other national campaigns and training programmes.”
