Suggested by Jane Claire*

Jane writes, “Rebecca Mordan is a successful actor, writer and producer, a veritable power house of Cornish Theatre Arts, encouraging those around her to make the most of their talent and giving them opportunities to thrive. She has championed and mentored female Cornish writers and actors from all sectors of the community and for over 25 years she has brought their work and her own to audiences throughout the county.

Rebecca is an inspiration to all who come in contact with her. She is dedicated to bringing women and girls together, tireless in producing work for Cornwall and beyond. Fully committed to every project, her unique style of leadership and generosity of spirit allows those she works with to always give their best and often inspires them to follow their dreams in the arts. Rebecca works nationally and internationally raising the profile of Cornwall, making important connections and building relationships.

Brought up in Cornwall, her theatre company Scary Little Girls is registered as charity and based here.

Rebecca’s superpower is to bring women and girls together and give them the belief that they are artists and can achieve great things. And she wears fabulous shoes!”

In 2020, Morden was selected for the BBC Writer’s Room and in 2021, she was a main organizer in the 40th anniversary march in honor of activists at the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp. She later co-wrote Out of the Darkness, a book in which women of Greenham share recollections of camp life.
