“Tracey Boyne owns Mylor Sailing School where she has developed inclusivity and sustainability agendas. Millie has made sailing an accessible activity at Mylor using a Wheely boat that can take wheelchair users and she employs staff with disabilities.
Her environmentally sustainable interventions include: using a non-toxic wetsuit washing chemical; providing vegetarian staff meals cooked every Tuesday; a cycle to work scheme; the reduction of waste through hosting car boot sales for water sports equipment; as well as measuring the carbon footprint of the business so that improvements can be made.
MSS is I believe, a champion of sustainable and inclusive sailing education that enables access to those who would usually miss out.
Tracey welcomed me as an Assistant Instructor back in 2018.
I volunteered for my Duke of Edinburgh Award and in return she gave me some of my instructor training. She does this with many young people, giving us the opportunity to train as instructors.
I am now a Senior Instructor which enables me to be responsible for a sailing school. I wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for Tracey’s welcoming personality and access to free training, whilst being an extra pair of hands for her at the school.”
