Trevor writes,
“Val was treasurer of Camborne Parish Church for 17 years as well as a stint as warden there. She was a founder of Trevithick Day and a founding member of Camborne Town Council in the early eighties. In recent years she’s served on the Town Council as mayor and deputy-mayor and has been chair of most committees. She is chair of the Camborne Town Deal Board working to raise almost £24 million for the benefit of the town. She has been a staunch member of the community centre and serves on the Camborne Music Festival committee.
Val and I married in 1967 and together we kept the shop in Trelowarren Street, Camborne for 45 years. Valerie soon took over the the shop-accounts and she became a well-known florist throughout the district. I love her very much. She has been loyal to me all our married life. She is so generous with her time, and sometimes she forgets herself.
She was born in Penzance and grew up at St.Hilary and has lived in Camborne since 1967.
